The Carpet Frogs' debut Frog Curry is performed with absolute, note-for-note devotion to mid-Sixties classic pop; covers of the Guess Who's "Shakin' All Over" and the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" are delivered with such precision that it's difficult to figure out just what the purpose of the recording is. Listeners seeking period pop sounds will be much better served checking out the original classics over the Carpet Frogs' slavish tributes.

 

Formed in Toronto in 1993, the pop-revival sextet the Carpet Frogscomprised lead vocalist Nick Sinopoli, vocalist/guitarist Greg Godovitz, lead guitarist Steve Jenson, guitarist David Love, bassistLeo Valvassori and drummer Lawrence Greech. Their debut LP Frog Curry was issued in 1995.
